Amazing Announcement: 2025 LITTLE Grant Program for Early Education!

Building Brighter Futures with the LITTLE Grant Program

The LITTLE Grant empowers early education facilities with more resources!

At the Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter (Day Shelter), we know how powerful early education can be for children experiencing homelessness. That’s why we’re so excited to share some great news—our Infant and Toddler programs have been awarded the Lifting Infants and Toddlers through Language-rich Environments (LITTLE) grant! This incredible opportunity allows us to expand the ways we support our youngest learners, giving them the tools they need to build strong language and literacy skills that will benefit them for years to come.

The LITTLE grant program is all about making early learning environments more responsive and enriching for infants and toddlers. Here’s how it works:

  1. Helping Teachers Shine: Educators receive training and coaching to feel confident using responsive caregiving practices, which are essential for helping little ones build their communication and literacy skills.
  2. Building a Support Network: Peer coaches are trained to guide and support teachers, ensuring that high-quality practices remain the norm in every classroom.
  3. Empowering Leaders: Program leaders expand their skills in creating nurturing, language-rich environments that set children up for success.

For the Day Shelter, this grant means more resources, better professional development, and coaching tools that directly improve the care we provide. It’s an important step forward for children who need us most, especially those facing the unique challenges of homelessness. By focusing on language and literacy skills early, we’re giving them a foundation that will serve them throughout their lives.

Since 2017, the LITTLE grant program has helped transform 105 licensed childcare centers and 101 family childcare homes in Georgia. We’re proud to join this movement, knowing that every effort we make now is an investment in brighter tomorrows for the children and families we serve. Learn more about who we serve!
