If you are interested in volunteering, please email our volunteer coordinator, Emily Stinson, at [email protected]. In your email, please specify if you are looking for a group or individual volunteer opportunity. If you are a college student, please let Emily know that as well.

Individual Opportunities

In-Classroom Volunteer: Reserved for college students studying early childhood education, social work, or related field and/or in need of consistent volunteer hours for class credit. In-Classroom Volunteers are required to commit to weekly volunteer shifts in order to build relationships with staff and students. Shifts are available Monday-Friday either 11-12:30 PM or 3:00-4:30pm.

Administrative Volunteer: Assistance with onsite tasks including but not limited to bulletin boards, storage organization, playground clean-up, envelope stuffing, and more! This is our most accessible individual volunteer opportunity, and we have monthly scheduled volunteer days that are available to enrolled and prospective volunteers. There is no minimum or maximum hour requirement. Shifts are typically the last Friday of the month from 10:30am-2:00pm.

Event Volunteer: Assistance with our signature events throughout the year.

Holiday House: This event is used to distribute toy and gift items to underserved families during the December holiday season. Volunteers can assist with gift wrapping, toy selection, curbside loading, toy restocking, donation intake, and more.

Legacy Builders’ Celebration: This is a fundraising event meant to celebrate the legacy of our families while educating our stakeholders on the continued legacy of our center’s impact. Volunteers can assist with pre-event set-up and can serve as ushers during the event.

Group Opportunities

ECE Classroom Takeovers take place on Friday afternoons from 2:30pm-4:30pm. These events are reserved for our funding partners who commit to giving at least $5,000 annually. The volunteer group will fill out a Classroom Takeover Plan in advance (we will provide a template), then will fully facilitate and lead a read-aloud and a related craft/activity with our children. Classroom staff will be present to assist with supervision and engagement, but the planning and execution of the craft/activity is fully in the hands of the volunteers! This is for groups of 10 or less, and the group will be divided into 3 or 4 different classrooms.

ECE Celebrations take place on Friday afternoons from 2:30-4:30, but timing can change depending on the type of celebration. These activities are reserves for our not-for-profit partners (schools/student groups, religious groups, foundations, or fellow nonprofits) to build strong partnerships with our Atlanta Community. These celebrations include holidays like Valentine’s Day, Earth Day, Dr. Seuss Day, National Reading Day, Thanksgiving, and more. Volunteers are expected to arrive an hour before the start of their event to set up, and then will interact with all the children at once during the event. This is for groups of 6-15.

Playground Clean-Up can take place Tuesday-Friday between 12:00 and 2:30 (during nap time) so we don’t disrupt the students’ play schedule, but we can be flexible on dates. Volunteers will be asked to blow leaves, pick up trash, and sanitize playground equipment. Scheduling is contingent upon weather. This is for groups of 6-15.

Storage organization in our donation closet, pantry, and/or classrooms can take place virtually any time Tuesday-Friday from 10:00am-4:00pm. This is for groups of 3-6.

Parent Workshops are meant to underscore our 2-generation approach, where we aim to serve the parents just as much as we serve the children in our care. Our Family Services Team puts on monthly parent workshops in a variety of subject areas including but not limited to networking, interview skills, financial literacy, professional dress, and more. These workshops typically take place on weekdays beginning at 5:00pm, and this opportunity is for groups of 2-5.
