Families Celebrate Literacy and Learning Together
On September 25, the Early Childhood Education team and Family Services department collaborated to host Family Literacy Night for children and their families. Held alongside the ECE Open House—which provided parents with updates on their children’s education—the event celebrated parents as their children’s first teachers and strengthened the essential partnership between home, school, and community.
Throughout the night, families enjoyed interactive reading activities, received free books and backpacks, and learned practical strategies for boosting literacy and language development at home. The open house also gave parents the opportunity to connect with teachers, explore classrooms, and see firsthand the learning taking place every day.
Thanks to the generous support of our partners, Ferst Readers and Nathan Thompson of the Atlanta Speech School, families left with the tools and resources to continue building strong reading comprehension skills.
This event was more than an evening of fun—it was an investment in the future. By empowering parents and equipping children with a love of books, we are laying the foundation for strong readers, confident learners, and brighter tomorrows.
We are grateful to our staff, families, and community partners for making this night possible. Together, we are nurturing literacy and inspiring lifelong learning, one story at a time.
