Teacher’s Appreciation Week!

You Say “Teacher,” We Say “Superhero!”

Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week at the Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter

At the Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter, we believe teaching is more than a job—it’s a calling. This Teacher Appreciation Week, we rolled out the red carpet for the superheroes in our classrooms who make magic happen every single day.

From May 5–9, our Early Childhood Education team was celebrated with meals, massages, meaningful gifts, and the heartfelt recognition they deserve.

Here’s how the week unfolded:

📅 Monday 5/5 – KFC Kickoff & Personalized Gifts
Our teachers walked into a beautifully decorated lobby with a slideshow of appreciation quotes and music where we started the week with a finger-lickin’ good KFC luncheon, sponsored by KFC owner and operator, KBP Brands. Each staff member also received a personalized gift to kick off the week with warmth and appreciation.

📅 Tuesday 5/6 – Hattie B’s, Heartfelt Notes, and Gift Bags
Hattie B’s lunch was generously sponsored by the Chiock Family. Gift cards and handwritten thank you notes from our Board Members were thoughtfully packaged into gift bags alongside fresh flowers—each prepared with care.

📅 Wednesday 5/7 – Breakfast, the Chick-Fil-A Way

The midweek morning started right with breakfast from Chick-Fil-A, served up in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week. Chicken biscuits, hash browns, and warm smiles all around—just a small way to say thank you to the incredible educators who pour so much into each day.

📅 Thursday 5/8 – Jewelry, Pajamas & Pure Joy
This day was all about cozy comfort and self-care. Noonday Collection provided stunning jewelry gifts for each ECE staff member, and Dreams of Lois Inc. added the perfect cozy touch with pajamas and slippers, Chipotle and cupcakes. Soothing chair massages (sponsored by the Greenbaum Family) completed a truly restorative day.

📅 Friday 5/9 – Olive Garden Farewell Feast
We wrapped up the week with a delicious lunch from Olive Garden, generously sponsored by the Greenbaum Family. Teachers gathered to enjoy their meal in a beautifully preschool classroom, complete with a gift table and music.

🌼 A Week Made Possible by Many Hearts
