The Week of the Young Child Celebration 2025!
The Week of the Young Child Celebration (WOYC) is a cherished national event led by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Every April, this week highlights the importance of early learning and honors the educators and advocates who uplift our youngest learners.
This year, from April 7–11, 2025, the celebration takes on a powerful focus: supporting children experiencing homelessness through creativity, connection, and community care.
Why It Matters
Across the United States, millions of children face homelessness—an experience that can disrupt their health, education, emotional security, and sense of self. The Week of the Young Child Celebration 2025 aims to bring visibility to these children, while also surrounding them with joy, belonging, and stability—even if just for a moment.
With the help of generous community partners, volunteers, and donors, each day of the week will feature themed events designed to foster creativity, connection, and fun for every child involved.
📅 Daily Themes & Activities
🎵 Music Monday (April 7)
Children will craft their own instruments and form a mini marching band. This musical celebration helps foster expression, teamwork, and emotional healing—especially impactful for children who’ve experienced trauma.
🌮 Tasty ‘Taco’ Tuesday (April 8)
Thanks to KBP Brands, children will enjoy a build-your-own taco bar, turning lunch into a meaningful moment of nourishment, play, and comfort.
🏗️ Work-It Wednesday (April 9)
Building, stacking, and imagining take center stage as kids engage in construction-themed learning and a group creation project that promotes problem-solving and teamwork.
🎨 Artsy Thursday (April 10)
Art becomes a vehicle for healing. With donated canvases and paint, children will sip juice and unleash their imaginations—processing their emotions through color and creativity.
🎉 Fun Friday (April 11)
Face painting, bubbles, games, and treats will fill the day with laughter. Chick-fil-A is donating chicken nugget trays, snacks, and desserts to help close the week on a delicious, joyful note.
A Community Effort
The Week of the Young Child is made possible through the generosity of volunteers, community partners, and donors who believe in the importance of supporting all children. From local businesses like Chick-fil-A and KBP Brands to the countless individuals who donate their time and resources, this week serves as a reminder of the power of community in making a positive impact on the lives of children—especially those who need it most.
A Lasting Impact
As we celebrate the Week of the Young Child, let’s remember that every child deserves a bright future, and it’s up to all of us to ensure that children—regardless of their circumstances—have the opportunity to learn, grow, and experience the joy of childhood.
Together, we can make a difference.
